Five years ago Glendale Realtor, Kathy Lefkovits, came up with one of the most creative fundraising ideas I've ever heard of. As President of the Soroptomists of Glendale, Kathy needed a great idea for raising money to benefit local charities. Kathy had just returned from a Realtor's Conference where she was encouraged to "think outside the box". The result was Bras For A Cause.
This year more than 250 people attended (and no doubt thoroughly enjoyed) the fun event which included a silent and live auction, dinner and a lot of socializing. Going along with the theme "Bras For A Cause Goes On Vacation", the decorated bra auction entries included such names as Twin Peaks Bra, Yosemit-D Bra, The Great Bra of China, Dutch Boy's Delight, Around The World in 80 Days and so many more creative names.
Last year the event netted over $41,000. This year is expected to exceed that amount. Recipients of the Soroptomists of Glendale's generosity include Verdugo Hills Hospital, Glendale Adventist Medical Center, Glendale Memorial Hospital Cancer Services and others. Way to go, Kathy!
